Curettes
Curettes are a type of surgical instrument designed with a handle, shaft, and tip. The tip resembles a cup and is sharp enough to pass through and pick up tissue. IncisionTech is the manufacturer and supplier of custom curettes for many OEM devices. Curettes are used in many procedures, including dental, suction biopsies, and bone surgeries. Each specialty requires a different size and design of curette in order to scoop up or scrape out the specific tissue.
Dental curettes are used by periodontists and dental hygienists to remove tartar deposits on the root of the tooth surface. Surgical curettes are longer and thinner than the dental design, and are used in procedures requiring the removal of tiny amounts of tissue. The sharp-hooked ends vary in shape from oval to round, from double end to single end, and sizes vary in order to cut through and remove the designated tissue.
Designing Curettes
In order for a curette to give the sharpest possible cut, IncisionLab has a process to evaluate the material used and determine the most effective way to obtain a razor-sharp edge. The penetration force required for the use of its cutting products is greatly reduced, thanks to design engineers who thoroughly test the incision force demand on different tissues. Each design is inspected according to the high standards set by IncisionTech.
