IncisionTech and Specialty Blades Donate Precision Laser Services to ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Team
Blackburg, Virginia. January 24, 2006 – IncisionTech and Specialty Blades were part of a select group of businesses that helped Christmas come a little early for a family in Blacksburg. After a week-long challenge, Carol Crawford-Smith and her two sons were welcomed back to Blacksburg with the unveiling of their amazing new custom home. At about 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, December 11, the family first laid eyes on what was the result of thousands of volunteers and workers, and hundreds of businesses non-stop work, led by Building Specialists (Roanoke, VA) and ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team. The home was finished just in time and several hundred neighbors, friends, families and volunteers lined Ardmore Street to shout that famous line, "Move that bus!" Carol appeared overwhelmed with joyful and grateful emotion as she hugged Extreme's team leader Ty Pennington. The crowd cheered as Preston scooped up Carol and carried her through the front door of her new home.
IncisionTech and Specialty Blades provided 3-D CAD design services and precision steel components that were used to fabricate some of the new custom furniture. This charitable effort was lead by Chris White (IncisionTech) and Doug White (DAW Designs – Blacksburg, VA) and required heavy use of available rapid prototyping capabilities and long hard hours working with Building Specialists to accomplish such a challenging project.
